    D’Alembert roulette strategies explained

    D’Alembert roulette strategies explained

    3/11/2019

Most of the options and strategies in Bitcoin roulette, as in other crypto casino games such as those played in Bitcasino, are derived from those used in the traditional bricks-and-mortar casinos. The main variations are American Roulette, French Roulette and European Roulette, each of which has its devotees along with its unique characteristics. The chances of winning in each are also affected by its rules.

Along with the roulette variations, there are a number of different strategies which have been designed to increase the odds of winning. There are in fact more strategies associated with roulette games such as Bitcoin roulette than with all the other types of crypto casino games and other games played on the high street. Ironically, despite this plethora of strategies the great majority of players tend to lose when playing roulette.

Why most roulette strategies don’t win

The reasons that most strategies often lose rather than win are many and varied. At one extreme, some don’t even take into account where the ball is likely to land. Betting on red is an example of one of these. The theory is that if you lose, your bet on red should be doubled for the next spin and just keep doing that until you either lose everything you have or win it all back. The fact is that, despite the ‘gambler’s myth’ of the next hit being more likely to be red if more blacks were hit previously, the odds are always the same for each and every spin.

Progression strategies like this are foredoomed to failure because the maximum table bet will eventually be reached, and even if you win, the payout is invariably unfair. The payout on the European wheel, for example, is 35 to 1, even though there are 37 pockets on the wheel. To be fair, it should be 36 to 1.

The role of false beliefs in roulette

Many gamblers playing Bitcoin roulette, Bitcoin slots or Bitcoin poker in an online Bitcoin casino have been seduced into holding a set of altogether false beliefs, and these work against them while they’re playing their game of choice and chance.

Contrary to popular wisdom, it is not true that the outcomes of past spins affect future spins. The odds never change, and each spin is a self-contained event.

Again, it is often assumed in Bitcoin roulette and other games that betting progression will increase the chances of winning. Neither positive nor negative progression is based in fact, because increasing the size of the bet does not affect the winning number. The wheel and the ball, basically, have nothing at all to do with the size of the bet you choose to place.

Bankroll management is always a useful thing to bear in mind when approaching online gambling or gambling in a bricks-and-mortar casino, but it does not constitute an effective strategy in itself. What it will do is simply make you lose, because of the house edge, at a slower or faster rate. However, when combined with the limits you have placed for the amount of money you’re aiming to make or the maximum losses you’re prepared to incur, money management can be a useful tool. Having such limits in place assists you mentally in knowing when to walk away from the table, but in the end, it comes down to self-discipline.

There are numerous other more or less occult beliefs surrounding the game of roulette, including the fiction that there are winning streaks that you can take advantage of, but there are a number of unpalatable truths that make a nonsense of them all. The main one of these is the unavoidable house edge, which is essentially what allows the casino to make a profit and without which none of them would remain in business for long. The result of the built-in house edge, in the case of a crypto casino, is that in the long run the house always wins because players do not receive completely fair payouts. This unpalatable fact of gambling life affects every form of roulette strategy, because even when you win, you’re not getting your fair share.

Having said all that, it’s also the case that there is some degree of merit in some roulette strategies that help prevent the game from degenerating into a completely random affair. A good example of one of these is the D’Alembert roulette strategy, which can be adopted in any online Bitcoin casino such as Bitcasino to some advantage if you take on board its limitations and don’t expect miracles.

    The D’Alembert strategy

The principles of the D’Alembert strategy have much in common with those of the more well-known Martingale strategy. The main difference, in fact, is that it has a far flatter progression and therefore a much lower overall risk, which makes it more attractive to many players. There is a much lower chance of players adopting it reaching the table limit or going bankrupt before being in a position to make up for losses, but there are also a few pitfalls to watch out for.

This strategy is basically very simple. Essentially, you decide on a starting bet and then, following every loss, you increase your bets by one, and after every win you decrease the next bet by one. The theory goes that when you reach the point at which your wins and losses have balanced out, you’ll have profited by the total amount of the bets you’ve placed.

D’Alembert is one of roulette’s safest strategies to adopt, because although you’re in the same way as in Martingale increasing your bets following losses you’re doing so at a smaller rate. D’Alembert is an example of an even-chance system of betting, and it can be applied to odd-even as well as to red-black.

All roulette strategies carry of their nature an element of risk, but D’Alembert is about as safe as they come. Unlike with Martingale, to work properly it isn’t necessary to have a large bankroll when you start playing, and this in itself attracts many players to adopt it. It also means that unlike with other strategies for Bitcoin roulette, you run little danger of being stung by the limit for the table, unless you’re having a particularly bad run.

The only significant disadvantage of the D’Alembert system, in fact, is that your potential winnings will be relatively low if you compare it, again, with the winnings possible from the much riskier Martingale system. Another thing to take on board is that when using this strategy, you’re essentially betting on winning just as many bets as you lose, and this is not such a common occurrence.

Something else that can happen when playing Bitcoin roulette or any other form of the game is that you might find yourself on a long losing run, and if that happens the only way to recover from it is to experience an equally long winning streak.

As with every other form of Bitcoin gambling and Bitcoin casino games in general, it’s advisable to set yourself a limit for your losses and a target amount for your winnings and just stick to these.

    Reverse D’Alembert

As with many other types of gambling strategies, D’Alembert has a reverse version of the system. As the name implies, you do the opposite of what you do with the standard version. The maths dictates, however, that you’ll only come out a winner if you’re on a winning run and obtain good results. Essentially, with reverse D’Alembert you will only end up in pocket if you win more times than you lose. This is in contrast to the standard version in which you profit by the number of won bets where wins and losses become equal.

    Summary

As with Bitcoin slots, Bitcoin poker and all the other Bitcoin games and Ethereum games offered by crypto casinos like Bitcasino, having some sort of strategy in place before you start will help increase your chances of winning, even if these are tremendously slim. The most important advice for any type of gambling is also to know when to stop, which means setting limits for your losses and wins and being determined to walk away when these have been met. D’Alembert is probably the safest strategy to adopt with regard to Bitcoin roulette, but it is by no means a reliable deliverer of wins and is more suitable if you have a smaller bankroll, enjoy the thrill of roulette and don’t mind not winning big.
