Quickfire from Microgaming bring you an interesting slot, set out on the Chinese sea somewhere, maybe? The Emperor of the Sea is yet another Chinese themed slot, but with a twist. Inspired by the nautical world of the ancient sea emperors it delivers on theme, but does it deliver on substance too?
Presented over a standard 5 x 3 setup with an 88 payline prize structure, this slot will take you on a nautical journey to big wins. Be warned, there may be rough seas ahead, so make sure you keep your wits about you! A suitable Chinese soundtrack sits behind well-designed visuals, keeping you hooked with its tight, entertaining gameplay.
Playing the game
Set your bets, get the game configured the way you like it and set sail in pursuit of riches. Click ‘bet’ and you’ll get a dropdown menu, here you can choose to set your ‘coin size’, and the amount of ‘coins’ per bet. Select ‘lines’ to set the number of lines you wish to bet before you hit ‘spin’ to start the reels spinning. Use the ‘autoplay’ for uninterrupted spins for the amount of times you select. Now you’re ready to go!
The good stuff
The game’s logo is the wild here, forming winning combinations by substituting for other symbols, except the scatter. As a standalone symbol, two or more across a payline will make a win. Wild symbols will stack during the base game and the free spins feature.
The scatter appears on the board in the form of a gold ingot with the ability to land anywhere across the reels, forming wins when two or more are present. Get three or more of these badboys across the reels to trigger the free spins feature, with an initial eight free spins awarded featuring so called ‘rolling reels’ and ‘growing wilds’.
Rolling reels will bring with them multiple consecutive wins with potential for pushing the overall payout high. The growing wilds feature affects the stacks of existing wilds, increasing them by one wild per spin during the feature to a maximum of 15 extra.
Sometimes a slot comes along that doesn’t get you quite as excited as you’d like - even though the visuals are great, the gameplay smooth and reasonably fair, and it’s from a well-known and trusted provider. We think it’s a theme overkill, nothing more.
This aside, Emperor of the Sea is a really nice slot to just sit and play without high expectations. Approaching this slot with an open mind, focusing on the mechanics and the monetary outcome, really puts it on another level. One for the seasoned players we think; the ones with their eyes on the prize!
