The Russian Poker Hack: More Possibilities to Unpack

2/5/2020

Russian Poker is one of the most interesting variations of the popular casino table game. It’s a five-card draw game at heart. However, it is played against the dealer. This allows a sense of empowerment on its players and their mindsets because of the multiple possibilities where they can improve their hand. Do you think you know the trick to Russian Poker? Find out below!

What is Russian Poker?

This type of casino poker is acknowledged in many names such as Royal Poker and Lunar Poker. Originating from Russia as a variation of the Caribbean Stud Poker, it is most popularly known as Russian Poker.

Being a five-card draw poker played against the house, it features various rules that allow you to modify both your hand and the dealer's. The lack of opponents isn’t the only unique feature of Russian Poker because you are also able to swap and buy cards.

Setup of Russian Poker

A single standard 52-card pack is used in Russian Poker. It is played at a table with a position for the dealer and six-player positions called boxes. The dealer plays for the house. If there are fewer than six players, a player is allowed to play more than one adjacent box.

Anyone playing more than two boxes must play the third and subsequent boxes 'blind'. Furthermore, all boxes where the player places wagers including blind boxes should be sequential.

Features of Russian Poker

One of the main features of Russian Poker is the capability of the player to buy the 6th card and replace one or more of the preferred cards from a starting combination. The cost of a purchase or replacement is 1 ante.

If the player exchanges only one card, he gets the freedom to make repeated exchanges. He can continue exchanges until the deck is exhausted, with the cost of a replacement in each successive exchange increasing by 1 ante.

Of course, there is also the fact that players compete against the dealer and not against each other in Russian Poker. This casino table game is unique in that you can have two hands at once, and payouts are made on both bets in accordance with payout coefficients.

How to Play Russian Poker

Russian Poker is simpler than other casino table games. To play, you have to place a bet on the ante field. When the dealer announces that there are no more bets and covers the bets, you are not allowed to touch or change your wager/s. You and the dealer each receive 5 cards with one of the dealer’s cards remaining open. From this, you have several options namely fold, play, buy, and draw.

When all players have made their arrangement, the dealer will show his remaining cards. The winner is determined with the highest card combination. If the dealer has any of the hands shown in the payout table that follows, his hand is compared with those of the players for each box.

If your hand ranks higher than the dealer’s, the dealer pays out only on the bet wager in accordance with the payout table. Moreover, if the dealer has no game, you can decide between two alternatives.

The more straightforward choice allows you to receive the ante. Your other option is to buy a game for the dealer wherein you opt to exchange the dealer’s highest card for the next card from the deck for one ante. If the subsequent card from the deck is equal to the card that has been substituted, the dealer exchanges the highest card again without a supplementary payment. However, this can only occur once.

Before the deal, you can also put in an extra bonus wager in addition to the regular ante bet. In this case, if you are dealt a Three of a Kind or higher hand, you will be paid out a corresponding bonus from the payout table below whether the dealer has a hand or not.

Strategies: The Russian Poker Hack

There is no secret when it comes to the trick to Russian Poker. It all boils down to two things in order to score wins like no other in this casino table game. Your initial and final decisions in this game will greatly influence your success in obtaining payouts.

To draw your initial decision, you have to consider the combination of cards you have on hand. From it, you can either play, fold, buy or exchange. Go in-depth of the recommended actions for each hand you might have in this list:

  • Any Straight or Flush: Buy 6th Card
  • Four of a Kind:  Play
  • Full House: Buy the 6th Card if the dealer's upturned card deviates from your cards. However, you should play if the dealer's card is the same as any of your cards
  • Three of a Kind: Exchange 2 cards if the dealer's card is different from your trips. If the dealer's card is identical to your trips, go for a play.
  • Two Pairs: Play
  • One Pair: Buy the 6th Card with any straight or flush draw. On the other hand, play if your pair is greater than or equal to the dealer's card. Moreover, exchange 3 cards if your pair is less than the dealer's card.
  • Ace, King: Buy the 6th Card with outside straight, flush or inside 6-card straight draw. If you are without any of the above, draw 3 cards.

If you have nothing, you can buy the 6th Card with outside straight, flush or inside 6-card straight draw. You can also hold an ace or king and any royal card before exchanging the rest. Another option you can do is exchanging 4 cards while you hold on to a Q if the dealer’s card is 5 or lower. Lastly, you can just fold.

After buying or exchange, it is now time for your final decision. You can play if you have A-K-Q or better. In all other cases, the best solution is to fold the combination. The Russian Poker hack is all about knowing what to do when you have a certain card combination on hand. It’s quite simple, isn’t it?
