Dinosaurs and archaeology are the themes in Falling Fossils, a casino slot game powered by Genii, as players are plunged into a world where they will need their expert eyes to determine which fossils and bones could be worth a tidy sum.
Falling Fossils is basic but suggestive, players will need to unearth the rocky outcrops to reveal the precious fossils. At the top of the screen, there is a pickaxe that players will use to gradually chip away at the craggy stone to show the treasures that lie underneath.
The reels themselves are a weathered yet authentic looking cradle of beige rocks, with a remote landscape in the distance. The reels are a different colour of stone, essentially slate grey however with shades of green, blue and brown standing out in stark contrast. In between the rocks crevices and cracks players can see the rocky base poking through that they will need to unearth.
The symbols in Falling Fossils as you would guess represent archaeological finds that would serve immense riches if they were found in the real world. Players will be spinning everything from the skull and small claw of a T-Rex, plus prehistoric fish, ammonite, ferns sea urchins and skeletal remains. All these plus the rock etchings complete the higher-paying cards.
To win on Falling Fossils players will need to match at least three identical icons along a winning line, and if they match five, they will obtain an even more generous payout. The top award is when players land five T-Rex skulls.
Some additional icons could help players to win even more, like the wild and scatter. The Wild can represent any of the regular symbols on the board and help form winning combinations because it can substitute other symbols on the reels, making it more likely to a winning line. If players win using a wild, their payout will be doubled.
Scatters are also known as Windfalls in Falling Fossils and triple the winnings on any active payline. The Windfall can be re-triggered during a Windfall so there’s no limit to what players can win.
Falling Fossils is easy to understand and play making it an excellent choice for newer players as its uncomplicated layout denotes. Furthermore, there are not too many bonus features or side games that distract players from the main game. However, because of this simplistic game, hardcore players will find the game a tad too basic for their liking.
