An event horizon is the point at which the gravitational pull around a black hole is too strong for anything (even light) to resist. The closest known black hole to Earth is 3000 light years away, so it’s safe to say that until CERN scientists create one on our doorstep that wipes us out, we won’t get much chance to examine one.
Betsoft have the answer and have created the Event Horizon slot, giving you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the tantalizing phenomenon without getting sucked into nothingness for eternity.
The slot is presented over the 5 x 3 setup with a whopping 243 ways to win. The traditional payline structure has been replaced by a system that generates wins when you land matching symbols over adjacent reels, from left to right.
It’s all about the symbols
It has a great sci-fi feel to this slot and this is reflected across the design language, a futuristic world set in the stars, surrounded by beautiful coloured space gases.
The symbols are equally as beautiful, taking a traditional set of icons but with a colourful glow, including a red seven; a bell; single, double and triple bars; cherries, and the more standard 10, J, Q, K and A for the lower value icons.
The wild takes the form of a collapsing star, we think - a blue orb that subscribes to the prescribed idea of what such an object might look like, and we have no problem with that. Appearing over reels two, three, four and five it substitutes all other symbols.
Sync those reels for wins
In the world of slots there are many features and bonus games that appear once and are never seen again, for one reason or another. The reels sync feature has been seen before, but never made it as a mainstream blueprint until now. It’s key trait is that it appears within the base game, running alongside standard play. On every spin during the base game two or more adjacent reels sync to enhance the chance of winning, particularly useful for combinations. If five reels sync you could be looking at some seriously big wins.
Event Horizon is pretty good actually, we like it. If you like other synced reel games, and we have already said there aren’t many, then it will suit you perfectly. Graphics, sound and gameplay are professional, smooth and entertaining as expected from a Betsoft slot, as well as it having that niche attraction in both theme and mechanics. A bit thin feature wise, but definitely worth a shot.
