Powered by GameArt, Star Cash Slot is a ten-payline video slot, featuring colourful currency symbols, entertaining sound effects and five transparent reels.
Fans of sci-fi, Star Trek and space exploration, in particular, will be enamoured with this space-themed slot whose typography should look very familiar.
Space is infinite (apparently), and so is Star Cash, a slot that continues on forever and ever. Whilst most video slots have animated reels, and neglecting the backdrop, in Star Cash the opposite is true. With a travelling-through-space backdrop so convincing players could practically dive right into it, the sensation can be quite disorienting.
With transparent reels, there is little clutter on display, and it is the symbol's themselves that garner a player's attention. Players would expect the animated space background to cease moving once they spin the reels, and yet this keeps on going, that can be a little irritating.
The symbols themselves are a euro sign, dollar, pound and yen (as opposed to playing cards that software developers use). It’s a smart touch; somehow the mere sight of letters that do not usually comprise Jack, Queen, King and Ace are refreshing.
How to play Star Cash
Before players reach for the stars, they are advised to adjust their settings.
Clicking “Bet per Line” to determine the coin size range.
“Autoplay” option enables reels to turn without interruption for a selected number of times.
To begin the game, players need to press the “Spin” button.
“Gamble” is for players to play the gamble round
The Currency Compass acts as the game's Wild and replaces all other symbols and lands only on the second, third and fourth reels.
Upon landing, the Wild expands over the entire reel and triggers a respin. To be more precise, the reels with the Wild symbols will be held in place, whilst the other reels will be re-spun once again. The maximum number of respins players can have is three.
The Gamble feature is triggered after every win. Players can either play or skip the round and retain their winning amounts or gamble their winnings away. To gamble, players must click on the “Gamble” button. If players guess the colour of the next card drawn, they will double their payout. Players who can correctly guess the suit, they will quadruple their winnings! Players can play the gamble round a maximum of five times.
Star Cash is not a great game, and sadly, it’s easy to see why. The sheer simplicity of it, including an absence of scatters or any kind of a mini-feature game, severely limits its appeal to punters. Combined with the fact that the moving space travelling backdrop gets irritating after a while.
It’s a shame because Star Cash looks quite cool and is one of GameArt’s stronger efforts in terms of innovating video slots by removing the reels altogether and applying an animated background. Yet it is this backdrop that actually ruins the game as it seems to cause an overwhelming strain on players eyes. It was a bit slower, then this game may actually be a good game rather than a mediocre and irritating one.
