Yggdrasil Gaming have done it again, this time with their excellent rendition of the classic Disney tale, the Jungle Book. Their offering named Jungle Books looks beautiful, plays smoothly and has a nice range of bonus features, but is it enough to beat some to the more established contenders based around children's tales?
Presented over a standard 5 x 3 setup, this slot pushes the payline count up to a stunning 58-68 through features. Drop in from 0.15 EUR to 270 EUR or equivalent in Bitcoin for each spin, and enjoy it across all of your devices. The game is based around five key characters that take you through the game’s levels, each of these characters offer a range of bonus features, reel sets and visuals specific to them.
The symbols that make it special
The guys at Yggdrasil never skimp on the visuals, and this slot is no exception. With the theme inspired by Disney’s classic tale, they place you in a mysterious jungle that is home to characters such as a bear, a boy, a tiger, a panther and a snake. These are the five mentioned above and each have own realm but also appear in each other’s too, they will also award you two bonus features when you meet them. You’ll need to combine host and guest features if you’re aiming for the biggest financial outcome.
Quite a bunch of characters!
Any win involving this guy triggers the Sticky Respins feature. Contributing symbols, as well as any wild symbols, will remain sticky during the resulting respin. Across the taller reels you’ll get stacked wilds appearing, enhancing the wins as part of the Stacked Wild Feature.
This little fellow will bring with him a feature called Spreading Wilds. During this feature wilds that land on the reels spread to create either one or two extra wild symbols in random positions.
This is where things start to get interesting. This menacing beast will bring a wild feature called Superhigh Pay Symbols. This transforms high-value symbols into wilds, along with a multiplier feature which gives a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x on random wins.
If the character before has given you a taste for multipliers, the snake will interest you. I slightly different approach, he brings a 3x Wild Multiplier feature to the table. Wins featuring only one wild can benefit from a 3x multiplier, as well as a Win Both Ways feature, giving you wins from both left to right and right to left.
This is how they work in a stacked symbols feature, and it tops off a handsome range of extras for this slot. One symbol gets chosen at random to become stacked on all reels for each and every spin. The wild symbols and the honeycomb symbols are also included in this feature, with the bear symbols also being added to the tallest reel to trigger a minigame. Known as Pick and Click, this feature will let you win a prize of between 50 and 50,000 coins for every honeycomb symbol that you get.
In addition to all of the above, there is a Synced Reels feature applicable across the realms. During the Boy, Tiger and Bear active time reels one and two along with four and five are synced, during the Panther’s active time reels one and five are synced, and for the snake reels two, three and four are synced. In each case, the corresponding reels display identical symbols.
Reading this review you might get a false impression that Jungle Books is complex and hard to get your head around, but it really is quite the opposite. The initial complexity of the mechanics goes largely unnoticed until the money starts flowing that is! This is a really nice game from Yggdrasil, worth checking out and with medium variance, it’s worth spending a bit to get it fired up.
