There’s no doubt that Galacticons is going to brighten your day; it’s colourful, cheerful and all-round fun. We always say that space themes and modern video slots are a perfect recipe, and we stand right by that here with Microgaming’s offering. Some innovative features will tempt those seasoned players and well as impress the newbies.
This slot is presented over the standard 5 x 3 setup and sports 243 ways to win. Set out in the deepest darkest corners of the universe, a purple haze hangs over the backdrop that places you in what appears to be a spaceship of sorts.
Higher value symbols include a small spaceship, a purple alien, a blue alien and a red alien, whilst the lower value symbols consist of the standard 9, 10, J, Q, K and A icons from the playing card deck. The wild symbol comes in the form of a blue milky way and acts typically, substituting all other symbols except the scatter. The scatter itself comes in the form of a large orange sun and helps to trigger the bonuses.
It’s all about the big bang
Get three, four or five of the aforementioned orange sun scatters across the reels to trigger 10, 15 or 20 free spins. You’re looking to get the floating purple black hole to push this round to the next level, although those spins are not to be shunned.
This black hole will float around the reels after each spin, ending up in a different location each time and reacting slightly differently depending on the neighbouring symbols.
“Landing next to a character or the spaceship will reward a random bonus multiplier of between 1x and 5x the triggering bet. The symbols are sucked in to the black hole. Landing next to a sun scatter symbol will add one free spin to the total number. Landing next to the Milky Way will suck it in and multiply all prizes for that spin by 2x.” According to Microgaming’s information.
You won’t be able to retrigger the free spins once this part of the feature has activated, but getting the black hole next to a scatter will extend the feature slightly.
243 ways to win and a cracking ‘milky way wild’
We’re seeing a trend across the industry at the moment to offer the ‘243 ways to win’ structure, in fact many traditional slots are getting the 243 treatment and being re released as a 243 version. With such a setup the player can win as long as matching symbols are in adjacent reels, though it does tend to lead to smaller, more frequent wins.
A nice touch here is the addition of a token multiplier. Although not a stand alone feature or bonus, getting the milky way symbol as part of a winning combo will see you bag 2x the win.
There’s very little we can pick fault with here, especially in the area of look and feel. Galacticon’s chirpy and bold, with a nice theme and half-decent - if a little chaotic - soundtrack. Wins-wise the bonus feature pushes this slot out front, as once you get there the slot will almost certainly pay big.
